The late Guy Ngan was an important NZ artist based in Stokes Valley who worked in a range of media, sculpture, painting, drawing design and architecture. Guy was born in Wellington in 1926 to Chinese parents and spent time in China, and studied art in London.
He was the Director of the NZ Academy of Fine Arts from 1976 to 1986. He works can be found in the collections of Te Papa Tongarewa and the Beehive. In 2006 a major retrospective of his works was held at the Wellington City Art Gallery.
